Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is an ancient Indian system. Its zodiac is Sidereal. It follows where the constellations actually sit.
Western popular astrology usually uses the Tropical zodiac. That frame is tied to the seasons — the equinoxes and solstices — not the present star field.

If an app only prints a Tropical sun sign, it is not showing the Vedic one.
Moon sign and nakshatras
Vedic astrology emphasizes the Moon sign, not only the sun.
It uses 27 Nakshatras (lunar mansions) for finer analysis. The Moon’s nakshatra at birth also starts your Vimshottari Dasha: a 120-year planetary timeline unique to that moment, with Mahadasha periods of 6 to 20 years and Antardasha sub-periods.
