What dasha am I in?
Your current Vimshottari period comes from the Moon’s nakshatra at birth, not your sun sign. It is not a shared yearly horoscope. Enter your birth details on BodhiRishi. The chart highlights the active period. Mahadasha lasts 6 to 20 years. Antardasha sits inside it. The sequence is yours alone. See it on your chart. Do not guess from a column.
This page cannot name your dasha without your birth data. No one else’s chart answers it.
What “current dasha” means
Vimshottari Dasha is the primary timing system in Vedic astrology. It maps a 120-year cycle divided among 9 planets.
A Mahadasha is a major period, 6 to 20 years, ruled by one planet. An Antardasha is a sub-period inside that stretch, ruled by a second planet.
Each period influences different areas of your life. The question “what dasha am I in?” means: which major period is running now, and which sub-period is inside it.
For more on the system itself, see What is Vimshottari Dasha.
Why sun sign will not tell you
The sequence is determined by which lunar mansion the Moon was in at the moment of your birth.
Nakshatras are the 27 lunar mansions Vedic astrology uses for finer analysis. Two people with the same Western sun sign can have different dashas. Their Moons were not in the same nakshatra.
Vedic astrology uses the Sidereal zodiac, tracking actual star positions. Western sun-sign columns use the Tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons. Precession often puts the Vedic sign one sign earlier. None of that is a substitute for the Moon-nakshatra start of your 120-year timeline.
A lookup table of “everyone’s dasha this year” would be a sun-sign product. BodhiRishi does not do that.
How BodhiRishi shows the active period
Enter date, time, and place of birth. No signup required to see your chart.
BodhiRishi calculates the chart on our servers with the Swiss Ephemeris. You get a life-periods timeline. The current period is highlighted so you know which planetary stretch is active now.
The AI astrologer can then answer from that chart — active dasha, current transits, house placements — not a generic script.
Readings are AI-generated interpretations for insight and reflection, not medical, legal, or financial advice.
What this page will not do
It will not assign you a dasha from a first name, a sun sign, or today’s date.
It will not publish a table of planet-by-planet year lengths beyond the sourced 6-to-20-year Mahadasha range.
It will not guess start and end dates for a person we have not calculated.
The only way to see your period is to calculate your chart.
